CAT TALKIN RIO MONEY, affectionately known as “Spiffy” is a 2017 AQHA sorrel gelding standing 14.1 hands tall and weighs roughly 1100 pounds. Spiffy has a long flaxen mane and tail that glistens in the sun and he has the CUTEST head you could ever put on a gelding! Chrome on every leg just wraps up the whole package and which earns him his name for sure! Whether you want a weekend trail or ranch horse, a horse to take and be competitive in the roping pen, or a young SAFE gelding to mount your kids on for years to come, Spiffy is the one you will want to bring home! Spiffy is by the great stallion, PALO DURO CAT who has earned $10,425 during his NCHA career. He is a full brother to SOPHISTICATED CATT, earner of over $176,000. PALO DURO CAT’S sire, HIGH BROW CAT, is the cutting worlds all time leading sire earning $110,102 by the time he retired in 1995 and at the time of his death in 2019, his offspring had earned over $79 million in NCHA competition. In addition, his sons have sired earners of over $140 million, and his daughters have produced earners of over $39 million. With bloodlines like that behind him, it’s no wonder he is as versatile as he is! We have used Spiffy for anything and everything on the ranch you could think of. He has trailed pairs to summer pasture, gathered cows at sun up, roped and drug calves to the fire at branding, pasture doctored yearlings on grass, and ponied colts for their first trip through the hills. He is cool calm and collected even when things get hairy. You can rely on him to help you get things done safely and efficiently. Spiffy isn’t the type that needs daily riding by any means, but having him around makes it easy to grab him on the coldest days and know he will get you home safe and sound. His short but stout size sure is convenient when you have all those layers on in winter too! You can leave him off for months on end, pull him out and he will ride the same as the day you kicked him out to pasture. If he doesn’t greet you at the gate (a rare occasion) just bring a halter and hop on bareback for a trip back to the barn from the pasture. He is easy to ride whether you are on a horse daily or a weekend rider. He is functional for the short stirrup riders too! Spiffy is calm and laid back, listens well to kid riders, and has seen the sights and sounds needed to ensure he will take every step to keep your kids safe! Spiffy is also just as well versed in the arena. He has been roped on on the head and heel side, has breakaway roped calves, and pen roped steers. He has seen the cutting flag as well which he transfers over to working cattle in the ally. He is incredibly cowy and fun to ride in the ally sorting or just penning back calves in the Feedyard. There truly isn’t anything this classy gelding can’t do. He is as versatile as he is functional! Horses like Spiffy are not a dime a dozen. You will search far and wide to bring home a gelding with his look and class, let alone his resume and abilities for his age. You or your kids will be the talk of the town on this outstanding gelding! We are ecstatic to offer Spiffy to you through an outstanding sale. This is one incredible Gem of a horse. Dominic is a grade 2018 Gypsy cross gelding that stands 14 hands tall. He will truly fit into any program that you have in your barn. He is a one of a kind sweet soul that will go out of his way all the time to please his rider. He has been ridden by all ages and all levels of riders and he is always the same. He will take you through the woods, over bridges and through water with his brave heart. He not only rides awesome, he is also very well trained to drive too. He can be driven by anyone as well and will go in heavy traffic without any issues. Dominic is a lot of fun and has been so easy to take through our program. He never gets upset about anything new that we show him or teach him. He just goes and does it and loves making you smile with his willing attitude. He is a small but mighty horse that can carry adults as well as children and looks great doing it. He can be let sit for months and taken out for a ride and act like he never missed a day of work. He has three very smooth easy to ride gaits and knows how to neck rein and direct rein as well. You can ride him in an English saddle, a western saddle or just go hop on him in the field and go for a stroll bareback and bridleless. He has been on numerous trail rides and trailered to lots of different places. He comes off the trailer like it is nothing. He will stand perfectly tied to the trailer while you get him ready, spray him with fly spray and tack up and ride right off from there. No maintenance type of horse here. He is wearing shoes right now because of where we ride, but he has also done well barefoot. He stands wonderfully for the farrier and vet and is a true gentleman in the crossties for you to get him ready for your ride. He has been kept in a stall and out in the pasture and does not have any bad habits no matter where we keep him. Dominic is one of the barn favorites because of his size and easy to ride capabilities. We know that we can truly put anyone on him and he will take care of them. If he is the horse that you have been looking for, please give Duane Yoder of Buckeye Acre Farm a call at 330-231-2324.

Here is another fantastic equine athlete offered by Rio Roca Land & Cattle Co! Woodybefrosty, AKA Frosty, is a chromed up, flashy gelding trained by an AQHA Professional Horseman at the ranch in Palo Pinto County, Texas. He was purchased by the ranch in 2018 shortly after the addition of his dam into their elite broodmare band. His sire, Woody Be Tuff, has LTE of $351,063 and has sired earners in excess of $8 million! His dam, CD Frosted Lights, has LTE of $38,463 and is an NCHA producer and an AQHA point producer. Frosty is a SHOT and AQHA VRH point earner, money earner, and class winner with very limited showing. His elegant movement is shown in ranch riding and his impeccable conformation has put him at the top in every conformation class. This gelding has been trained in the traditional bridle horse method. He rides great in a ring snaffle, hackamore or a full bridle. Living on a cattle and horse ranch he has seen many miles through the brush, open pastures, through water and in the working pens. He has been used to gather cattle for years and really excels in sorting cattle in the corral. His calm demeanor and will-do attitude makes him a good choice for long days during weaning and preconditioning cattle. He loads and unloads like a dream. He is easy to deworm, give vaccines, wash, saddle, and stands great for the farrier. Frosty has been competitive in OPEN ranch riding and would be a great amateur prospect for many ranch classes. His fast spins and big stops have made him a favorite among ranch guests coming to learn more about our horse program. There are lots of horses out there but few that can be used to gather cattle, cruise around the ranch, and be competitive in ranch classes on the weekends. This gelding can do all that and turn heads everywhere he goes! If you have any questions about Frosty, please, call or text Jared Lee, Rio Roca Ranch manager/trainer, at 210-913-3884.

Chisum truly is a once in a lifetime horse. The best way to describe him is to say that he is a perfect gentleman with impeccable manners, all of the time. He’s always a pleasure to be around. He has absolutely no vices or bad habits and is always gentle no matter what. He’s easy to catch, stands tied quietly (even when he’s alone), great to shoe, loads and unloads wonderfully along with anything else you ask him to do. He has an incredibly easy going personality. Then on top of that he is one of the prettiest horses you will ever see. I guarantee you that anywhere you ride him people will take notice and comment on his looks. Chisum has been my #1 head horse for the last year and a half. He’s the complete package. He scores well, has a ton of run, gets underneath himself in the corner and finishes it off with a snappy face. He’s the real deal. I’ve won on him at World Series, Wrangler ropings, etc. from the open down to the 11. However, Chisums main job has been as a ranch horse and I can promise you that he’s seen it all. Long days in big country going up & down steep hills, crossing rivers, swamps, fallen timber and anything else you could imagine, he’s probably seen it. He takes everything in stride, never any spook or hesitation. Chisum knows his job and he’s exceptional at it. Also, he is the same exact horse everytime you saddle him up no matter what the circumstances are. He truly is just a tremendous horse that I cannot say enough good things about. For more information, call Toby at 307-461-7820.
