Blue is an 8-year-old Blue Roan AQHA registered gelding with the perfect balance of eye appeal and athleticism. Blue stands 15.1 and weighs 1055lbs. Blue has been standing in the same barn with the same trainer for the past 4 years. He has been successfully shown in Ranch Trail, Ranch Rail and Ranch Riding in the Green, Junior, Open and in Amateur. On a regional level, he has won several circuit championships in these classes and levels. He has been in the top 10 at Congress in Open Ranch Riding. He is talented enough to win in an open class but easy enough for a novice to ride and win. He walks, jogs, trots, long trots, lopes, can extend the lope, side pass, spin, and slide to a stop. He transitions from one gait to another quickly and efficiently. He has one of the smoothest lead changes you will find. He has great body control, moving off leg pressure with ease. His best gait is the long trot. His long trot looks great in the show pen, and he can cover a lot of ground rounding up cattle in the field. We are always getting compliments from our competition peers and onlookers regarding his presence in the arena. They love the way he looks and moves. Although he has only been shown in a couple of classes with cattle, team penning, he won first both times. I am a novice rider and Blue has helped me become a better rider. If I give him wrong cues, or unintentionally get too rough with him, he never overreacts and never holds grudges. On the ranch, by himself, he has rounded up cattle on a 125-acre boundary of steep land. He herded them into a lot and sorted into different pens. He has been trail ridden by himself and with other horses with no issues. He crosses large creeks and manages steep terrain with ease. Blue is sound and stout made. He has never missed a training session, show or workday due to lameness or soreness. Blue has a gentle disposition and is easy to handle on the ground. Because of his soft body, athleticism, and willingness to please, Blue is a lot of fun to ride. Ever since Blue has been in the trainer’s barn, he has had a seroma on the lateral side of his right hip. It never changes size. Increased activity does not change its size, and the seroma has never impeded his activities or athleticism. We are proud to offer this horse out of John Roberts Performance Horses program.
