SHON SMOKING HICKORY, also lovingly known as Goose is a 9 year old AQHA gelding. He is stout made and stands a solid 15 hands. He is most definitely a barn favorite! Everyone has to take turns riding him, and he is the one that everyone fights over to ride each day! His friendly personality shows, as he is always greeting you with pricked ears. Goose has been a ranch horse is whole life. He has pasture roped and doctored many cows. He has worked in the branding pen and dragged countless calves to the fire. He is sure footed in all terrains and isn’t worried if he gets into a sticky situation. He keeps his cool and takes his time to get out of trouble. Aside from working on the ranch, he has been hauled and rodeoed on and taken to many team roping jackpots. He will back into the box and rope both ends. Looking for doing a little lower stress riding? Goose loves to go on trail rides. He camps on the highline overnight. Crosses creeks, ditches, logs, etc. He will ride anywhere in the group or out alone. He is traffic safe and has been ridden on the back country roads. Tractors and other equipment around the barn doesn’t phase him either. Goose handles all situations with grace and confidence. He will walk, jog, and lope nicely in the arena. We trust Goose enough to ride with lesser experience riders on him as well as riding double on trail rides with our toddlers. When you just want to relax and have a little fun, you can hop on him bareback with a halter and lead rope and go ride. Goose stands excellent for the farrier. He is easy to catch, and gets along well in a herd situation. He has nice stalls manners and stands for tacking and mounting. Goose has nice ranch horse type bloodlines. On his sire side, he goes back to the great HIGH BROW HICKORY, LTE $222,928. For more information, contact Sammi Waugh at 704-798-5497.
