Bo came to us about a year ago and quickly became the barn favorite. Standing 15h, he feels and looks bigger than he is. Bo has a very cool way about him, living up to his cutting bloodlines, he naturally wants to squat and crawl, smooth as glass, getting where he needs to get and making it feel effortless. With limited showing in his 3 yr old year, Bo collected over 11K in NCHA earnings and has retained his training well. He has been our go to for teaching people new to cutting or working cattle, just what it is supposed to feel like. Our goal with Bo was originally to make a rope horse out of him and he has been started in that direction, mostly doctoring and branding but he has also been tracking the dummy quite well. Bo has taken to everything we have shown him and proven very easy to teach, learning all the moves a bridle horse needs to perform; slides, spins, and lead changes. At 6 yrs old, he is just coming into his prime and is ready to go whatever direction you might want. He could quickly be tuned up and go to some weekend cuttings, or finish him off and start competing in the bridle. He also took right to roping and would excel on either end. He has been the same horse everyday, in every situation we can think to put him in, never getting excited or over reacting to new challenges. His flashy markings always turn heads and Bo gets more compliments than any horse in our barn. He has a sweet personality, always meets you at the gate and enjoys being pet on. He is easy to bath, clip, shoe, haul, and doesn’t require any special maintenance. He does have a small splint on the inside of one front leg. He came to us with it and it vetted as just a cosmetic blemish. You really can’t go wrong with this quiet, flashy, and talented gelding. Howie is as kind as he is pretty, a flashy Tobiano Paint standing 14.1H, without a mean bone in his body. He is one of the rare, born gentle, types that just wants to get along. He is calm and quiet, doesn’t cause problems anywhere you put him. At 4 yrs old he has pretty much seen it all; from ranch life, being hauled to town, to packing beginners and kids around, he is the horse we grab when we need something safe and consistent. Howie has always been a willing performer and has stepped up to the task, whatever job is presented to him. He has done every job on a ranch including gathering large pastures with rugged terrain, branding, doctoring, etc. He has spent most of the last year in performance training and could easily step into the show pen and hold his own. He’s got a big stop, stylish movement and is very consistent in his carriage, making him the perfect horse for a competitive non pro that wants to be able to take him home and enjoy him outside of the show pen as well. Even after sitting for long periods, Howie is the same horse he was when you left him. He will ride out on trails the same alone or in a group, easily rates to his riders comfort level, travelling in an easy going manner at every gait and speed. We have yet to find an obstacle that he says no to, at worst he will hesitate while he reads the situation, but persuading him to move past or through something new has never been a cause for drama. We have also started heeling on him and he shows a lot of potential as a heel or breakaway horse, rating well and always stopping big. You don’t find horses like Howie very often and he really is the horse most people need. The fact that he is gorgeous and flashy enough to show is just a bonus on top of his kind eye and easy disposition. He really is a gem, and we’d love to chat with you more about him, give his trainer Joe a call with any questions at 805-717-7256.
